No need to worry because the problem of msvcp140.dll missing is quite common. When installing the program/game, you will see a folder called vcredist, there usually contains the setup needed for the program to run smoothly. Some of the methods we will explain require an internet connection. When doing troubleshooting, your computer must have a good internet connection.
1. Update Windows operating system
Windows 10 has very advanced update features, not only OS and drivers, the update feature of Windows 10 also helps you download the files needed to solve this.
2. Register the msvcp140.dll file manually
If you already know how to download and have downloaded the msvcp140.dll file to your computer, you have moved it to the proper Windows folder, but it doesn’t work either.
Now open a command prompt “as administrator” and enter regsvr32 /u MSVCP140.dll
Then type again; regsvr32 MSVCP140.dll
3. Run the system file checker
Run the System File Checker again through the “As administrator” command prompt. The trick, open cmd (as admin) then type sfc/scannow and wait for the scanning process to complete. This command helps you to locate and repair corrupted system files, which is why using sfc, or system file checker can help you to replace missing or corrupted msvcp140.dll.
4. Duplicate the msvcp140.dll file from another computer
Press the Windows key + Pause/Break, then see the System Type you are using on your computer, whether it is 64 or 32-bit.
Look for a computer that has the same type of operating system, it doesn’t have to have the same processor or RAM as long as you have a 64 or 32-bit type system.
If it is the same, open the folder C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64 for Windows 64-bit, or C:\WINDOWS\System32 for 32bit. Look for the file named msvcp140.dll there, and copy and paste it to the same location on your computer.
